grace

For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

Theologian John Stott came up with an acronym to describe grace: God's Riches At Christ's Expense. We receive God's riches through the mediation of Jesus. Friendship with God; forgiveness of sins; joy; purpose; love; personal transformation and growth; assurance; hope; protection; life everlasting.

We also receive truth through Jesus. Truth about God, since Jesus is the perfect representation of the Father. Truth about ourselves, and our neediness. Truth to live by. Truth to die by. Truth to share with others. Truth to protect from falsehood and deception. Truth to combat the schemes of the Evil One.
