Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ

"I didn't know that God and I were enemies!" This is often stated by those who do not recognize their sinfulness and God's holiness. God is too righteous to wink at sin. We all have a sense of justice. How much greater is God's sense of justice. The Bible repeatedly warns of God's wrath against sin.

How wonderful it is that God's wrath is placated through Jesus. We are sheltered from what is rightfully due us, because Jesus has paid the penalty that we deserved. Jesus is like an umbrella to us, a shelter from the storm of God's just punishment.

But not only do we escape wrath, we actually become friends of God through Jesus! It is not just an uneasy truce - it is PEACE!
